About the Position


OneJustice is seeking a Finance and Information Technology (“IT”) Manager who will bring an enthusiasm for running and helping strategize highly accurate and efficient systems that undergird the organization’s long-term civil justice mission.  This position calls for someone who is interested in nonprofit management and financial health, organized and attentive to detail, and excited to assess existing processes and technologies as well as research, test, and implement new ones.

Key Responsibilities


Nonprofit bookkeeping, accounts payable, and finance systems (about 70% of the time)


Under the supervision of OneJustice’s Director of Finance, the Finance and IT Manager performs a central role in helping maintain the reliability and efficiency of OneJustice’s financial records. This enables OneJustice’s staff and Board to make quick, highly-informed, and mission-driven decisions about revenue and spending. Specifically, this position:


  • (Core function) Manually enters or imports data about nearly all revenue and expenses, helping screen for adequate documentation.
  • (Core function) Tracks, evaluates, and processes all bills, including helping to manage relationships with vendors to ensure accurate and efficient accounts payable.
  • (Core function) Helps services teams to create, track, and follow up on invoices for services.
  • (Core function) Makes weekly deposits.
  • (Core function) Assists the Director of Finance in training staff to comply with financial processes and controls.
  • (Core function) Participates in the annual and funder audits, including working with OneJustice’s external accounting consultants to prepare schedules/reports, produce financial proof, and answer questions during site visits.
  • (Core function) Keeps complete, organized, and secure financial files.
  • (Strategic function) Participates in weekly meetings with the Director Finance and external accounting consultants to assess and strategize the performance and needs of OneJustice’s financial infrastructure.
  • (Strategic function) Researches, tests, and implements new platforms that would improve the Finance Team’s ability to generate swift data with which the organization can make mission-driven decisions.


 


Information Technology Management (about 30% of the time)


The Finance and IT Manager also performs a very important role in helping maintain the reliability of OneJustice’s IT systems. Specifically, this position:


  • (Core function) Responds quickly to the day-to-day IT needs of OneJustice’s offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles; this includes trouble shooting IT issues that we can resolve in-house and coordinating with our external IT vendors to resolve complex or high stakes matters.
  • (Core function) Coordinates routine maintenance and back-up services from OneJustice’s IT vendors, including tracking their scope of work and costs.
  • (Core function) Sets up high-functioning IT for new employees, updates aging IT for current employees, and provides ongoing IT training, tips, and reminders to all staff members.
  • (Strategic function) Helps assess OneJustice’s IT risks (e.g. hacking/ransomware, hardware and software vulnerabilities, etc.) in an ever-evolving IT landscape.
  • (Strategic function) Assesses the return on investment of new technologies to pilot and implement (e.g. train on) potential tools.
  • (Strategic function) Periodically audits OneJustice’s IT needs to recommend whether and how to retire and upgrade technologies.


 


Qualifications:


  • A bachelor's degree;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Great project- and time-management skills;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google applications;
  • An knack for strengthening the rigor and efficiency of processes and institutionalizing knowledge;
  • An affinity for nonprofits and/or making our society a more just one in which to live;
  • (Not required, but a significant plus) Two or more years of professional work experience that involved bookkeeping, accounts payable, fiscal audits, and/or IT systems; and
  • (Not required, but a significant plus) Experience with QuickBooks Online, Expensify, and/or Bill.com.


 


Salary & Benefits:


  • The starting salary for a Manager is $49,600-62,000, depending on each full year of previous, directly relevant and full‐time work experience with similar responsibilities and as dictated by OneJustice’s salary scale.
  • Benefits include fully-paid health (medical, dental, and vision), life, and disability insurance, as well as generous paid leave (vacation, sick, and holiday time) including a full week off during the December holidays.
  • OneJustice facilitates both retirement 403(b) accounts and flexible spending accounts for qualified medical and commute expenses.
  • Working primarily under the Director of Finance, the Finance and IT Manager will learn about nonprofit accounting, budgeting, revenue models, and financial health safeguards and metrics.
